HERE THEY COME

“Here They Come”   the words rang clear across the quiet harbour from the pot-bellied man’s mouth as the  couple walked towards their home.  Once again he was on their case, a racist individual who had told them to go back to where they came from.  But the problem is she can’t as she’s home and he can’t because he is trapped in a no mans land of non existence.

Here they come; Yes walking down the street just like every couple, well nearly every couple. The difference being she’s white and he is black.

Here they come: trying to ignore the narrow minds and racist ideas of some in small town Ireland.

Here they come: after having an awesome lunch which has now settled like a cement block deep down in their stomach as the pot-bellied man’s words ring across the harbour.  Funny the racist individual likes strutting around showing his tan off but doesn’t seem to like or tolerate coloured people.  It’s not as if he has a models body to show off, he makes people cringe when he peels his layers off like a bloated bear.

Here they come: but he doesn’t care if his words hurt or not as he lets them rip through the air.

Here they come: yes walking along without a care in the world untill that moment.

Here they come: a thicker skin is required to live as a mixed raced couple in a small town in Ireland or for that matter any where in Ireland.

Here they come: walking down the street, the words of the Monkees  song goes through her brain as she hear’s the cry on the air across the empty harbour

Here we come, walking down the street
We get the funniest looks from everyone we meet.

Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
And people say we monkey around,
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down. You know that we want to
Do what we like to do,
The only time we get restless
Is around something new

Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
And people say we monkey around,
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down.

We’re just trying to be friendly
So come and Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
And people say we monkey around,
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down.

Anytime or anywhere, just look over your shoulder
Because we’ll be standing there.

Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
And people say we monkey around,
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down.

Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
And people say we monkey around,
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down.

We’re just trying to be friendly,
So come and Hey, hey, we’re the monkees
And people say we monkey around,
But we’re too busy singing
To put anybody down.

Hey, hey, we’re the monkees!

Here they come: putting one foot in front of the other just like everyone else living life.

Her they come : just trying to survive just like you and you. Trying to live a good life without abuse.  Think before you put your mouth in motion because words can be expensive
